It was Senior Night in Star Nation and it was a neat night to celebrate and all was well by the end of the night. The night started off by recognizing our two Star seniors before the game: Mekhi Gaither and Devin Ephron. Both seniors got the start and hit the 1st baskets of the game against the visitors from Fort Zumwalt North. The Stars busted out to a early 18-9 after the 1st qt and the Panthers kept it close in the 2nd qt to close the Star halftime lead to 33-28 heading into the break. At halftime the Stars Dance and Cheer squads were recognized and did their halftime routines. In the 3rd qt the Stars clamped down on defense holding the Panthers to only 7 pts in the quarter and pushed their lead out to 51-35. In the 4th quarter both teams played their subs and the Stars cruised to a big 63-49 home win. Patrick Evans had one of his better games on the year with 22 pts on 9-15 shooting from the field and added 6 rebounds. A'Tavian Butler continued his fine play with 15 pts and 10 rebounds. The Stars didn't shoot the ball real well from the field, but they did dominate the rebounding area by out rebounding the Panthers 40-21 on the night. The Stars will open up MSHSAA District play on Tuesday night as they will take on Hazelwood West HS at 6:45 pm at MNHS in 1st round play.
